The 8th edition of the Man’s Water Polo World Championships took place in Podgorica, capital of Montenegro, from 16th to 21th June, 2009.
The event was hosted at the Morača Sports Center, a facility built in the 1978 near the river Morača.
This multisport facility is extended on 5 hectares and it offers tennis tennis court, basketball court, volley ball ground, sauna, swimming pools, gymnasium, grounds, and the possibility to host 4300 spectators (both for sporting events and during concerts).
In this center, Myrtha Pools built two new outdoor pools using Myrtha Technology.
During the event, the 33x25m pool was used for water polo competitions, and the 50x25m pool was utilized for athletic training.
For the 8th edition of the Man’s Water Polo World Championships, Podgorica hosted 19 teams from Australia, Montenegro, Africa, Croatia, Serbia, Japan, Italy, and USA, with also South Africa and Libia in a world competition.
Montenegro won the firts place, defeating Croatia in the final match. Bronze medal for Serbia.
