WINDSOR 2016, XIII FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m)

In December, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, welcomed the last swimming event of 2016.
The World Swimming Championships (25 m), a FINA competition organized every two years, was held December 6-11 bringing together the world’s best swimmers including the Rio Olympics superstars!
WFCU Centre (Windsor Family Credit Union Centre) was the home to the challenge. As a multi-purpose entertainment complex the WFCU usually offers to its audience the top class sports events, concerts and family shows. The venue also includes a hockey rink and a basketball court.

The Hockey arena indeed was the selected location for the swimming competitions: here, just for the occasion, Myrtha completed a temporary 25m pool which was easily dismantled at the end of the event giving back the ice-arena to the hockey players.
In the same venues, Myrtha Pools designed and installed 3 other permanent pools: a 25m warm-up with 6 lanes, a leisure pool and a spray pad featuring a beach entry ideal for children’s entertainment.
Thanks to the quick and precise installation, typical of Myrtha technology, the installation has been completed two months in advance of the scheduled date resulting in huge cost savings.

Training sessions for the World Swimming Championships (25 m) were hosted in the warm-up pool of the WFCU Centre and in the 71m pool of the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre (WIATC).  Located a few kilometres from the WFCU Centre, this state of the art facility features 5 pools designed and completed by Myrtha in 2012.

The 13th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) were preceded by the 4th FINA World Aquatics Convention, that took place 3-5 December 2016 at Caesars Windsor Resort and Convention Centre (Windsor, Canada).
