July 2008. The brand new Malaga Water Complex, named as the best European swimming centre, was inaugurated with the European Water Polo Championships held from July 4th to 13th.
The complex has been installed in record times: the first stone was cast in February 2007, and all the works were finished at the beginning of 2008.
The architect is Luis Millet who designed the pools for the Olympic Games in Barcelona and proposed the ones for Madrid 2012.
The complex in divided in two parts, one indoor and one outdoor, that are directly connected. Three of the four pools are indoor: the pool for swimming and water polo is a 51.5x25x2.1 m Myrtha Ceramic/2 pool with two bulkheads. There is a 34.5x16.5x2.1 m Myrtha Ceramic/2 pool with a movable floor and then a 16.5x10x1.1 m Myrtha Ceramic/2 pool with hydromassage benches, geysers and fountains.
The outdoor pool, a 50x25x2 m Myrtha Ceramic/1 pool, hosted the final water polo competitions and is used above all for swimming and water polo.
