Indonesia will host the SEA Games for the forth time following the competitions of 1979, 1987 and 1997 and for this occasion they will grant 542 golden medals for 44 different competitions.
The competitions will take place both in Palembang and in Jakarta, respectively in the Jaka Baring Sport (a 45 thousand sqm area) and in the Gelora Sriwijaya Centre; and in the Bung Karno Stadium, which hosts approximately 88 thousand people and is the biggest and most ancient Indonesian centre.
The executive Committee believes that the inauguration date - 11/11/11 - is an evidence of the momentous and importance of the XXVI Games. The opening and closing ceremonies in fact will take place along the river Musi and in the historical building Kuto Besak Fort.
