SARASOTA TO HOST 2013 PAN AMERICAN MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP
Myrtha Pools is pleased to announce our partnership with U.S. Masters Swimming. As part of this partnership Myrtha will provide the pools for their 2012 Summer Nationals at the Century Link Center in Omaha. We are very excited about this new partnership as USMS provides great opportunities to keep people of all ages involved in the sport of swimming.
U.S. Masters Swimming has also announced that it is partnering with the Sarasota Family YMCA to host the 2013 Pan American Masters Championship. The Championship event will be held at the Selby Aquatic Center, part of the Sarasota Y’s Evalyn Sadlier Jones branch in Sarasota, FL. U.S. Master Swimming bid for and was awarded the Championship.
The Sarasota Family YMCA Selby Aquatic Center pool is one of the first Myrtha Pools to be installed in the USA. Now going on almost 12-years, the pools will need only minor modifications to be ready to host this championship event. Weller Pools was selected to design/build this aquatic facility for the Sarasota Family YMCA in Sarasota, FL in 2000. This is one of the largest competition pools constructed at a YMCA. The main pool is a 75' x 217'- "stretch" 50-meter pool with two Myrtha Moveable Bulkheads, 1 & 3 meter diving with a geothermal heating and cooling system. The aquatic facility also includes a 5,000 SF interactive water play feature pool with water slides and water play features.
This will be the first time the USA has hosted the biennial event and Myrtha was very pleased to hear that they have chosen a venue that utilizes Myrtha Technology. Now swimmers from all over the world will find out for themselves how fast Myrtha Pools really are.
The 2013 Championship will include synchronized swimming, Masters swimming, and open water swimming. To be held May 31-June 10, 2013; the Championship is expected to attract up to 2,000 swimmers from around the Western Hemisphere.
