June 1998.
The eighth edition of the World Swimming Championships takes place in Perth - Australia - at Challenge Stadium, the most prestigious Australian swimming complex, already equipped with four competition pools. The Organizing Committee, wishing to provide the complex with a fifth pool, specifically destined for water polo, took Myrtha Pools for the realization of a prestigious Myrtha stainless steel Ceramic/2 swimming pool.
The pool, permanently destined to Challenge Stadium, is completely in ground and it has been made with 2 meter high steel panels; it is provided with overflow gutter on the four sides and with ceramic perimeter finishes.
The event, as it was expected, has been a smash hit, with more than 1,500 athletes from over 100 Countries in the world.
Still today the swimming pool of the Challenge Stadium is appreciated by the swimming centre managers, not only for its aesthetic value, but also for the simplicity of maintenance.
