MYRTHA POOLS ONCE AGAIN FOR US TRIALS: THE POOL FOR OMAHA 2008

The city of Omaha (Nebraska) will host the U.S. Swimming Olympic Team Trials from June 30th to July 7th, 2008 in which the qualifications of the American swimmers for Olympic Games Beijing 2008 will be decided.

As for the Trials in Long Beach 2004, also this event will take place in two 50 m temporary Myrtha swimming pools that will be installed within the Omaha Qwest Center.

The Qwest Center is a brand new structure divided in two sectors: a Congress Center and an Arena, that with 17,000 seats usually host every kind of events, such as basketball or hockey matches, concerts, and so on.

The two temporary Myrtha swimming pools, one for competitions and one for warm-up, will be installed inside the Arena in the place generally used as playing field.

US Swimming Federation has chosen once again Myrtha Pools for Omaha Trials 2008 after the positive experience in Long Beach 2004: a lot of spectators and 6 new world records.

Myrtha Technology is more and more used by Swimming Federations all over the world for the construction of big competition pools both permanent and temporary. Myrtha in fact has a lot of advantages: the pools, that are real mechanical constructions with the possibility of millimetric adjustment, allow the swimmers to reach high speeds thanks to the overflow gutter design, that is not only very wide but can also absorb the waves created by the swimmer without any return. The installation rapidity and the adjustment characteristics of the structure allow the realisation of a complete competition swimming pool in few days, also inside covered buildings as the Qwest Center, usually assigned to other functions, but with the advantage to host a lot of spectators normally foreseen for such swimming events.
