In the core historical centre of Tourcoing, in the northern part of France on the border with Belgium, an important aquatic centre has been realized in an old fire station, the biggest facility at north from Paris.
The city holds an important tradition concerning aquatic facilities and already in 1904 the city had crated the first swimming school in France: “Les Enfants de Neptune”.
In 1999 the local government decided to supply new structures and, following various considerations and an accurate selection of the necessary locations, in 2004 committed the architect Jean-Michel Ruols, specialized in designing aquatic spaces, and choose Myrtha Pools as supplier of the pools: in fact Myrtha and Renovaction technologies, which offer both flexibility and durability, have guaranteed the realization of the peculiar design of the project.
Different pools have been created, with the aim of offering both learning activities and relax or recreational areas: a 25x21x2.00m pool, overflow with skimmer headwall; a 405sqm free-form pool for learning, supplied with a double combined system overflow and skimmer, depth ranging from 0.92 to 1.22m, wall hydro massage, countercurrent swim, fountains, river and an enjoyable boule à vague area.
An area with a pool for cold water, 18sqm x 1.22m realized with different technologies combined together, Myrtha Overflow Ceramic+Skimmer and Renovaction, and a pool for hot water, 32sqm x 0.92m Myrtha Overflow Ceramic+Skimmer with a bench positioned frontal to the stair side.
A 275sqm oval pool committed only for recreational and relax activities with a depth ranging from 0.90 to 1.20m, with Myrtha Overflow Ceramic and Skimmer technology, supplied with fountains, wall hydro massage, hydro massage benches, hydro massage beds and a river.
Ultimately a 57sqm pool for children with depth ranging from 0.15 to 0.25m, with Myrtha Overflow Ceramic technology, combined with Renovaction and Skimmer and supplied with fountains, geyser and floor air jets.
