MYRTHA POOLS AND THE KROC CENTER OF COEUR D’ALENE IN IDAHO

In 2003 Joan Kroc – wife of the recently passed away Ray Kroc, founding father of McDonald’s – commits to the Salvation Army the biggest donation ever made to a private charity, with the explicit purpose of building with all the necessary equipment the Kroc Centers to be dedicated to the community: recreational facilities where people can follow and cultivate their innate talents, stimulate mind, body and spirit with the aim of personal improvement and also community development.

The Kroc Center of Couer d’Alene in Idaho has been developed with this in mind and was opened in may 2009: an area of approx. 12.000smq that welcomes the judicial head-office of the association, the meeting house, and also an aquatic center, one for fitness and fun, and many areas for conferences and special events.

In this context Myrtha Pools has been contacted to realize the pools of the Indoor Aquatic Center. It has been made for people of all ages and it offers the possibility to train, learn and perform swimming competitions, aquagym, and therapeutic exercise for elderly people.

For this purpose, there are two pools realized with Myrtha Technology: the competition one, a Structural Ceramic pool 25m x 25yeards (22.9m) from 1.20m to 3.00m depth with mosaic targets; and another Structural Ceramic leisure pool of 1000smq subdivided into 5 areas by islands and peninsulas realized with “finger wall” technology: a training area, an area for children with zero-entry, a relax area with hydromassage, a river area and slides.
