Cesca Vas Pool Complex a rising star aquatic centre in Slovenia.

We are thrilled to see the continued progress of the Cesca Vas Pool Complex in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. Thanks to a successful collaboration between Myrtha Southeast Europe, Enota Architects, local distributor Histi d.o.o. and the Slovenian Swimming Federation, the new centre will feature a 25m swimming pool along with an elevated leisure pool. After reading about the 2^nd architectural prize that Enota Architects won for this wonderful endeavour, we spoke with them to learn more about the project…

Cesca Vas Pool Complex already received 2 awards, most recently the Architizer A+ Award 2022. In your opinion, what is most important when you design a sports facility? 

«Novo Mesto lacks a covered swimming pool that would enable future development of aquatic sports in the area. When we designed the new swimming pool building, we took special care to incorporate it into the surrounding landscape, so it sits gently on the sloped terrain. Pool areas are an extension of the outdoor terraces which makes them not only functional for swimming but also a pleasant multipurpose and flexible space for future use. We strongly believe that sports facilities should not only serve for practicing sports, but should also create a pleasant atmosphere for people to spend time in.» 

How can Myrtha Pools, with its modular stainless steel technology, help you to bring a state-of-the-art aquatic facility to Novo Mesto? 

«We chose the stainless steel modular technology from Myrtha pools because we wanted to create a pool that will be easy to construct as well as maintain in the long run. It allows us to have complete control of the manufacture of the pool off-site and make sure it is designed and built to perfect standards!» 

This overall concept, honoured in 2022 by Architizer and in 2021 by The Plan, soon will be a real game-changer for Novo Mesto’s citizens. After designing the pools in Myrtha, we can’t wait to start the installation phase!
