Myrtha Pools is the new partner of the CNB in Barcelona
Myrtha Pools is proud to renovate the pools of the oldest aquatic centre in Spain. In addition to rehabilitating the first indoor swimming pool on the Iberian Peninsula, Myrtha has reached an agreement with the Club Natació Barcelona so that the centre becomes a reference of the highest order. The alliance, signed with the CNB using the IPD formula (integrated project delivery), means that in this instance Myrtha Pools will not only be a supplier of the pools but also a partner throughout the entire production path of the re-imagined centre.
The CNB is the living history of aquatic sports in Catalonia and Spain, a club that has won championships regularly at both a national and international level. And speaking of high achievement, Myrtha pools have been the aquatic centerpiece for 5 Olympic Games, more than 150 world records and 19 FINA World Championship meets. Promoting water sports (swimming, water polo, synchronized swimming, diving) figures prominently in the DNA of both the CNB and Myrtha Pools. Their joint path began in the late 1990s with a saltwater pool used 365 days a year. In 2003, we had the honour of designing and building the Nova Escullera pool for the X FINA World Swimming Championships. Having been selected to repurpose the CNB is a sign of absolute confidence in the relationship. The agreement aims to transform the CNB into an aquatic centre of the highest quality, not only at a regional and national level but also to turn the CNB’s aquatic facilities into an absolute benchmark at a European and world level.
The CNB centre for Myrtha Pools will be a must for presentations and events with international architects, swimming and water polo federations, with experts in the operation and sustainability of aquatic clubs and centres. The work for the design of the pools began this April and includes the renovation of the historic Escullera pool, which will be completed in 2023. Also on the docket is the construction of a new heated outdoor pool 33m long x 23m wide. Additionally, updating work is scheduled for the Nova Escullera swimming pool, which was built by Myrtha Pools to host the world swimming championships in 2003. It will gain automated functionalities in the current pool, as well as the improvement of the outdoor saltwater system that since 1999 has allowed members to enjoy the advantages of a swimming pool filled with water drawn directly from the Mediterranean Sea.
According to Matteo Bazzaro, International Business Director of Myrtha Pools present at the signing of the agreement: “It is a real honour to continue this wonderful story with CNB. We began collaborating with CNB over 22 years ago by providing Myrtha technology and ongoing support, and with this new agreement, we will install new pools and upgrade existing ones with the latest Myrtha technologies and accessories. It will be the state of the art in the aquatic world and a beautiful showroom for Myrtha Pools. The new CNB for Myrtha Pools is a new concept, a model where it will be fantastic to bring architects, athletes and personalities from all over the world!”
