Bormio Terme Spa

Bormio, Italy

Bormio Terme, a remarkable spa at high elevation near Italy’s border with Switzerland, was faced with the challenge of remodelling an outdated thermal swimming pool. Thanks to a design by the architectural firm J+S and the modular Myrtha RenovAction technology, the pool was renovated without total demolition. The improvements are remarkable: increased surface area, more hydromassage benches, and a design integrated with the environment thanks to a spectacular waterfall overflow edge.

Crucial in the execution of the project was the speed and quality of the work, as the pool is a strategic element of the spa and necessary for the winter season. Myrtha Pools, thanks to its know-how and its exclusive pre-engineered modular technology, succeeded in delivering the new pool within only three months, fully with the project’s tight timetable.

The new Stelvio pool, which pays homage to the Olympic ski slope of the same name, has therefore replaced the previous thermal pool: square, minimal and linear in shape, it features the best Myrtha Pools technologies along with stoneware finishes that enhance the original materials.

The project required the demolition of the front wall to increase visibility from the pool. Also new were 20 hydromassage benches and three neck-massage fountains. The result not only increases access to the pool but also expands its comfort, giving both residents and tourists a structure with futuristic features, yet fully at home in its historical and natural context.
