Cottonera Sports Complex
Located in the southern part of Malta, the Cottonera Sports Complex is the largest sports facility in the nation and has been designed with a unique and innovative approach. Comprising three main areas, it has recently been enhanced with an indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool created by Myrtha Pools.
The pool was constructed with the technical specifications of World Aquatics in mind for international competition. It is also equipped with all the accessories and cutting-edge technologies to provide today’s and tomorrow’s aquatic athletes with a place to train and compete.
Thanks to the Myrtha movable bulkhead, the Cottonera pool can be divided according to distinct planned activities such as swimming, water polo, and artistic swimming.
Thanks to the inclusion of a movable floor in the design, the depth of one section of the pool can be adjusted to facilitate swimming lessons for children, or for aqua gym and aqua bike classes. This specific Myrtha movable floor consists of a supporting and floating structure and includes all safety elements required by international standards.
Completing the competition accessories are a set of removable Myrtha headwalls and Myrtha Track Start starting blocks.
By providing solutions for both elite athletes and community members of all ability levels, along with a filtration system capable of reducing water and energy consumption rates compared to traditional facilities, the Cottonera Sports Complex has become the island’s focal point for aquatic sports.
