Park Tae-Hwan Aquatics Centre

Incheon, South Korea

South Korea’s multiple Olympic medal-winning swimmer, Park Tae-Hwan, brings history and experience as the namesake for the Park Tae-Hwan Aquatic Centre in South Korea. Gold medallist at the 2008 Olympic Games and winner of many Olympic and international medals in the 100, 200, 400 and 1500 freestyle events, Park Tae-Hwan hopes his commitment to the centre will help support and inspire children looking to get more involved in competitive swimming. Even as one of South Korea’s top swimmers, there was a period in his own life when finding a suitable place to train was difficult. The new centre will help solve that problem for a generation of young athletes.

An athlete of the highest level, in his long career Tae-Hwan found himself often competing in Myrtha Pools, and when he decided to proceed with this project, there were no doubts on whom he would turn to. The aquatic centre, located inside a shopping mall in Incheon, is dedicated to learning and teaching for the youngest swimmers. The pool is equipped with the best technologies to help avoid injuries and support learning. The training pool is 25 meters long and has six lanes. The bottom is made with Myrtha’s Antislip and SoftWalk materials to ensure greater comfort and safety for young swimmers trying out swimming for the first time. Myrtha is proud to have been a part of this amazing project and we look forward to great results!
