It is called Taastrup Svømmehal the new pool in Høje-Taastrup, a Danish municipality of 50,000 people, a few minutes from the center of Copenhagen.
The pool is built near the Taastrup Idræts Centre, a modern fitness and sport center, consisting of 12 football and tennis fields, restaurants and multi-purpose areas.
The pool was built to provide a facility that could easily host important events and growing number of users. An existing area established for swimming events consisted of 3 pools one 25 meter and two smaller heated pools – was not enough to satisfy the new community requirements.
Besides the pools, it was decided to build a fourth facility in a nearby building offering new swimming spaces, extended opening hours, modern dressing rooms and a dedicated access.
The facility was built by Myrtha Pools in co-operation with DISH, a Myrtha dealer in Denmark, aimed at offering a functional facility: a turnkey swimming arena accessible to the most important local swimmers.
Besides the pool, the project includes a building, a ventilation and water treatment plant, as well as the dressing rooms and common spaces designed for offices and restaurants.
The project provides for functional, but at the same time, environmental-friendly areas: the conditioning and water treatment plant provides highly effective ventilation while cutting water and energy consumptions to the bare minimum.
A brand new swimming facility, high performance and hi-tech, as well, makes the Høje-Taastrup community proud and satisfied: Michael Ziegler, the city major, defined Taastrup Svømmehal as an ambitious project: Thanks to the new swimming facility he supported – better conditions will be offered to our sport clubs, schools and swimmers in general. The new pool does not only provide for a wider space, but welcomes a wider target as well, thanks to its mobile bottom and walls. The swimming facility couldnt be better.

During the short-course European swimming championships in 2017, at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, the Taastrup Svømmehal facility was visited by many European architect delegations deeply interested in the project.
