The new Vertigo rooftop at nhow Milano

Vertigo: Milan’s coolest cocktail and pool terrace rises at Via Tortona 33. To be enjoyed from dawn until dusk, this glamorous rooftop destination promises breathtaking moments above the city skyline.

When the sun sets and the sky turns shades of blue, red and orange, the lights of Milan’s coolest cocktail & pool terrace come alive. Vertigo, the new rooftop of the nhow Milano hotel, is ready to become a new icon of Milan’s nightlife. Located in the heart of the Tortona District, the terrace – designed by Park Associati – spans 750 square metres and features three circular pools, a lounge area with cocktail bar, a large sun deck, and the spectacular Infinity Pool, created in collaboration with Myrtha Pools.

“Vertigo is a project we are particularly proud of”, says Hugo Rovira, Managing Director, Minor Hotels Southern Europe and North America. “It represents the very essence of nhow Milano – an unconventional and playful space where guests can have fun and be surprised by every detail. Together with our partners, we’ve designed every element to make the cocktail experience truly unforgettable. Vertigo adds a new key dimension to our offer in Milan, a city that has always been strategic for Minor Hotels – not only for tourism but also for events and nightlife. Every evening is a celebration here at nhow”.

The architectural design plays with surfaces such as glass and steel, contrasting concave and convex shapes, and blending nhow’s signature orange with the grey tones of industrial Milan. Even the water itself becomes part of the concept: though naturally colourless, here it takes on the hotel’s distinctive hues through the pool flooring, with basins that can be filled or emptied according to the season or event.

Movement and contrast define the space – circular pools against linear paving – while Park Associati also emphasised the playful, eclectic character of the rooftop, perfectly in tune with the hotel’s creative soul. The guiding concept, vertigo, is brought to life by the infinity pool cantilevered over the façade, featuring skylights that heighten the sense of depth and transparent glass balustrades offering “wow” views of the city.

Completing the design are six structural pillars – two doubling as showers – which support the telarium while transforming into luminous vertical elements that light up the most exclusive parties.

“The project explores the contrasts between the proportions of different components,” explains Alessandro Rossi, Project Director at Park Associati. “Some elements are magnified to a monumental scale, others reinterpreted in minute, almost microscopic dimensions. The former evoke the site’s industrial past, while the latter introduce a playful reading of the whole intervention.”

The circular pools and the cantilevered infinity pool were realised by Myrtha Pools, which oversaw the creation of all water features to deliver a cutting-edge rooftop unique within the Milanese skyline. The pool extending beyond the building boasts a 28-metre transparent wall along its infinity edge and, thanks to Myrtha’s advanced modular technology, can absorb the structural movement of the rooftop.

Founded in 1961, Myrtha Pools is a global leader in the design and construction of competition, leisure and design-led pools. With its exclusive modular stainless steel technology – which reduces CO₂ emissions compared to traditional concrete pools and contributes to LEED v4 standards – Myrtha has revolutionised the pool industry, becoming a benchmark for sustainability and Italian quality in international sporting and hospitality projects.

“We are especially proud to have realised the stunning pools at nhow Milano with our Myrtha technology”, comments Roberto Colletto, CEO of Myrtha Pools. “The project perfectly combines engineering and creativity, with its strikingly coloured finishes, large transparent methacrylate walls, and panoramic windows in the main pool. It’s a showcase for our growing focus on the hospitality sector and a new jewel among our projects in central Milan. Our congratulations go to the entire project team and the investor’s vision".

For the Vertigo rooftop, nhow Milano is a proud partner of Purobeach, an internationally renowned beach club brand. This collaboration aims to redefine high standards of leisure and wellbeing, merging Vertigo’s stunning setting with Purobeach’s expertise in creating unforgettable experiences around the world.

“We’re extremely proud to have had the idea and the courage to realise this rooftop with infinity pool and cocktail bar”, says Emanuele Prataviera, Head of Real Estate at Finint Investments. “It breathes new life into nhow Milano, which we acquired in 2016 and which has since become a landmark for lifestyle hospitality. The project fits perfectly with the vibrant character of the Tortona design district, one of the city’s most cosmopolitan and dynamic areas. Thanks to our team’s long experience in hospitality, Finint Investments continues to deliver high-quality, technically advanced projects that generate value for our investors”.

The terrace redevelopment project was promoted by Finint Investments SGR – through the Euripide Fund, owner of the property since 2016 – together with nhow Milano, with the aim of enhancing a former industrial area once home to General Electric and offering a truly nhow-style experience.
For Park Associati, the design brief was clear: to create an outdoor space for the hotel combining two essential elements – water, represented by the pools, and vertigo, the experiential concept that perfectly embodies nhow Milano’s unconventional spirit.

Open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Vertigo offers a variety of services, including private event hosting and an exclusive cocktail menu designed to surprise even the most discerning guests. The cocktails themselves – crafted by skilled bartenders and mixologists – are inspired by the rooftop’s signature features and colours: Superficie, Straripante, Onde, Riflesso and Circolare, each shifting in tone from bright yellow to deep red, to deliver a truly “wow” experience.
