History
Our Origins
It all started in 1961 in the small Italian town of Castiglione delle Stiviere, when engineer Giorgio Colletto decided to dive into the world of swimming pools. What started as a small local challenge, quickly evolved into an elaborate project: bringing innovation, quality and passion to every pool. After just a few years, Myrtha Pools became an international benchmark for swimming pools in the world stage.
The 1970s: The Steel Revolution
The 1970s sparked a wave of revolution. From the first modular pools in galvanised steel to the patented 1977 breakthrough of stainless steel laminated with PVC, Myrtha ushered in a new era. Fast, precise and long-lasting, these pools marked Myrtha’s entry into the public and commercial pool sector, forever changing the way pools were built.
The 1990s: Olympic Debut
On the occasion of the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, Myrtha delivered its first temporary pool for a water polo event. Installed in just 12 days to be ready for the Games, and later relocated to Florida, it demonstrated the flexibility of Myrtha’s technology. Around the same time, RenovAction was born: a system designed to bring new life into existing pools, combining innovation with care for ageing and outdated facilities.
These years also marked the beginning of a family legacy, with Giorgio’s children Roberto and Annalisa joining the organisation to lead the company into a new chapter of growth.
2000: Global Expansion
In 2000, Myrtha crossed the Atlantic and opened its US branch, in Beijing 2008, RenovAction renewed pools to accommodate the diving and modern pentathlon events for the Games, and in 2009, a partnership with FINA brought Myrtha to the World Championships in Rome. Each project reinforced Myrtha’s role as a trusted, innovative partner, blending technical excellence with creative vision.
2020-2025: Global Vision and Sustainability
Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024, the U.S. Trials, the 2021 and 2023 World Championships confirmed Myrtha’s global leadership. In Fukuoka 2023, five temporary pools were reinstalled or donated after their use at the Championships, promoting legacy and sustainability. In Paris 2024, Myrtha supplied 24 pools for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, two of these debuted a revolutionary membrane made with 50% recycled material.
Technology Continues to Evolve
Myrtha Shark optimises filtration and energy use, Myrtha Flow integrates counter-current swimming for training and rehabilitation, and Myrtha Breathe improves air quality in indoor facilities. The renewed partnership with World Aquatics propels the company into a new era of excellence, modernisation and passion for sport.
