Lima 2019, 18th Pan American Games

After the Olympic Games and the Asian Games, this is the third largest multi-disciplinary sporting event in terms of participating nations in the world, and since 1951 – the year of its inauguration in Argentina – it has seen thousands of athletes from across the continent compete for two weeks of excitement and performance.

It is an event that is as well established in the sporting calendar as it is eagerly awaited by fans, and Myrtha Pools has also contributed to it thanks to the renovation of the aquatic centre at the main venue: the Villa Deportiva Nacional, VIDENA, a large complex in the district of San Luis. In anticipation of the competitions, which also included diving, swimming, synchronised swimming and water polo, our company installed three pools, each with its own specific characteristics: a 50-metre competition pool, a 52-metre training pool and a third 20-metre pool dedicated to diving. At the end of the event, the entire facility will become Peru's central swimming centre, serving sport and recreational activities.

It is easy to see, therefore, how this was a unique event of far from marginal importance: for Myrtha Pools, which was able to reconfirm its efficiency in the installation of new swimming pools; for Peru, which once again returned to the centre of the world and the hearts of millions of sports fans. Forty-one participating nations, thousands of athletes, one great event. The event was followed by the Parapan American Games, from 23 August to 1 September. After, the facility is now recognized as an important recreational-sporting center in Perù both for the community and for athletes all over the country.
