The Idaho Central Aquatic Center in Boise brings recreation, training and competition together under one roof, within an architectural setting designed to stand out.
The facility fills a longstanding gap in the region’s aquatic infrastructure and is housed within a Sprung structure, a tensioned membrane building system that allows for rapid construction and large, column-free interior spaces. Inside this modular envelope, Myrtha Pools delivered two permanent pools designed to provide performance, flexibility and long-term reliability for a wide range of aquatic activities.
At the heart of the project is a 50-metre competition pool, created to help Boise attract local, regional and national aquatic events. The pool features a movable bulkhead, allowing the facility to adapt its configuration for different disciplines, age groups and programme requirements.
Alongside the main pool, a separate 6-lane, 25-yard pool expands the centre’s daily programming capacity. It supports learn-to-swim courses, fitness classes, club and school swim team training, and community lap swimming, helping the facility serve a wide range of users without compromising the event readiness of the main pool.

Both pools are equipped with movable headwalls and Myrtha Track Start starting blocks, bringing the tanks into line with the technical requirements of competitive swimming. These features allow athletes to train and compete in conditions that reflect the standards they will encounter at higher levels of the sport.
The project was delivered in collaboration with CM Construction as General Contractor, Lombard Conrad Architects as Architect, Water Design Inc. as Aquatic Consultant, and CEM Aquatics as Myrtha’s distributor.
