A town already famous for racing proved to be a great fit for Myrtha Pools technology in the 2024 U.S. Trials swimming meet. Both the competition and warm-up pools were situated within Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, in June of 2024, making it the first time a swimming meet has been held inside a football arena.
Big crowds witnessed plenty of greatness, as world records were broken by Gretchen Walsh in the 100m butterfly, and by Regan Smith in the 100m backstroke. Several more U.S. records fell, and another impressive standard was established by the fans themselves: highest attendance ever at a swim meet, as 22,209 came through the turnstiles on Wednesday, June 22.
Myrtha technology again made the best possible use of Lucas Oil Stadium as a venue. Both pools fit within the spacious setting. With design work from Counsilman-Hunsaker, the main competition pool was situated near the south end zone, while the spacious warm-up pool was screened from the view of spectators and emplaced at the north end of the building. The speed of installation was helped greatly by another team effort, consisting of Myrtha technicians along with key support from partners DWR, Sunbelt Pools and A&W Flooring. Spear Corp. addressed water treatment and piping, while Dodd Technologies completed the deckwork and staging for this incredible event.
The two pools will provide an enduring legacy of greatness at their permanent homes. The competition pool will serve as the main body of water in a developing project in nearby Ft. Wayne, Indiana, while the warm-up pool is the focal point for a national training center in the Cayman Islands.
