The ADRENA Surf Lagoon is located along the western coast of Saudi Arabia and forms the central feature of ADRENA, an adventure district developed by Red Sea Global. Conceived as a large-scale active tourism destination, the project integrates advanced surf engineering within a broader mix of land- and water-based experiences.
The lagoon extends over 210 metres in length and 65 in width, with a total surface area of 13,853 square metres. The facility is powered by the innovative Endless Surf system, based on 36 pneumatic caissons, capable of generating programmable waves of more than 2 metres. This technology enables precise control over wave height, shape and frequency, supporting a wide range of user levels and operational scenarios.
Behind this experience lies a complex construction process in which Myrtha Pools played a central role. The company was responsible for the lagoon’s waterproofing system and contributed to the structure of the Endless Surf wave generator, two critical elements in a tank of this scale and function.
Work on site was completed in just five months, within a broader construction programme. One of the defining challenges was the need to operate in parallel with ongoing construction works, requiring a high level of coordination and adaptability.

A distinctive feature of this Endless Surf project is the use of treated seawater, drawn directly from the Red Sea through a closed-loop system. The water is filtered, circulated within the lagoon, and then returned to the sea, maintaining environmental control while reproducing the density and buoyancy of ocean conditions.
The Myrtha Skin membrane, a flexible version of the Myrtha laminated stainless steel panel, guarantees effective waterproofing and high resistance to saltwater corrosion and wave impact. Thanks to its white colour and 3D finish, Myrtha Skin enhances the transparency of the deeper water body and provides anti-slip properties at the lagoon’s entry beach.
The structural solution follows a hybrid approach, combining Myrtha components with the requirements of the wave-generation system, which demanded a high level of precision in alignment and installation. The project was developed in a high water table environment, with shallow groundwater conditions adding complexity to the construction process. In addition, the use of saltwater required careful selection of materials and execution methods to ensure long-term durability and resistance to corrosion.
The lagoon is equipped with 46 Teclumen underwater lights, extending usability into the evening hours and supporting continuous operation. Overall, the ADRENA Surf Lagoon represents a complex integration of structural engineering, waterproofing technology and surf system design. It highlights the growing application of programmable aquatic environments within large-scale developments and confirms Myrtha Pools’ ability to deliver reliable solutions in technically demanding contexts.
