Mladost Swimming Complex

The Mladost Swimming Complex in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, is a clear example of how collaboration between institutions, designers and technology providers can strengthen sporting opportunities within a region.

Before the new complex was built, local residents relied on an ageing 25-metre Soviet-era concrete pool that no longer met modern training or competition standards. Working alongside the general contractor GBS, committed to adopting modular stainless steel technology, Myrtha Pools delivered a 50-metre Olympic-standard swimming pool that now represents an important asset for the community. The pool complies with international requirements and is designed to support advanced training programmes, competitions and educational activities.

To ensure these standards, the installation includes several key features: Myrtha movable headwalls and Myrtha Track Start starting blocks, engineered to provide stability, comfort and speed through inclined platforms with adjustable track starts and integrated rear steps. A Myrtha movable bulkhead further enhances flexibility, allowing multiple configurations based on the needs of the aquatic centre.

Through its technology, Myrtha Pools has met both functional and strategic objectives: the use of modular stainless-steel construction ensures precision, long-term durability and significantly lower maintenance compared to traditional building methods, improving safety and sustainability over time. Thanks to this project, Plovdiv can now rely on a modern aquatic facility capable of supporting competitive training and broader community use, and, above all, a place where future generations can grow, learn and aim for new sporting ambitions.
