As part of the University of Pittsburgh’s new 25,000-square-metre Recreation and Wellness Centre, Myrtha Pools has delivered and installed an elevated, NCAA-compliant 25-yard pool across the 4th and 5th floors of the building.
Myrtha’s precision-engineered stainless steel and modular construction ensured the structural reliability required for an installation of this scale. The multipurpose pool features five swimming lanes and a leisure area equipped with Myrtha Soft Floor and anti-slip membrane for shallow zones. With bench seating and an accessible ramp, the pool also benefits from Myrtha White, enhancing both water clarity and hygienic performance. Adjacent to the main pool, Myrtha built a dedicated spa pool finished in mosaic with hydromassage, offering a warm and calming contrast to the dynamic training environment.
This ambitious project contributes to Pitt’s renewed focus on student wellbeing, bringing fitness, mental health and recreation together within a single multi-level destination. Working alongside industry leaders, including Moody Nolan and IKM, aquatic consultant Counsilman-Hunsaker, GC teams Barton Marlow / Mascaro, and Myrtha Dealer DWR Aquatics, the university has created a transformative facility reflecting both modern campus life and Myrtha’s commitment to technical excellence.
The new aquatic centre stands as a testament to innovative design, engineering expertise and Pitt’s vision for a healthier, more active student community.
