Aquamore Spinea

Venezia, Italy

With its full-service aquatic centre, the town of Spinea (European City of Sport 2023 award), along with Myrtha Pools and Teco + Partners Architects, have created an example of a sports facility designed to thoughtfully meet the different needs of a whole community. Aquamore Spinea brings aquatics options to the Venetian town that include competition, learn-to-swim, splash and play, physiotherapy & rehabilitation, and more.

The multifunctional facility was born from a passion for sport and a desire to offer opportunities for activity, fitness, training, wellness, and fun. This led to a design that includes three pools to meet the different needs of the centre’s clients.

The main pool in the facility is a six-lane, 25 m sports pool, built using Myrtha’s modular stainless-steel panel technology. For competition and training, the pool is equipped with six Myrtha Track Start blocks and also features the Stralhenturbolenz wall inlet system that maintains perfect water quality without creating turbulence that can interfere with training and racing. Also installed is the Myrtha Virtual Trainer, a programmable LED system that encourages better training sessions with visual pacing cues. The Myrtha competition pool is well-equipped for swimming lessons, free swimming, training, and competition.

The second Myrtha pool in the complex is a shallow depth, non-slip bottom ‘Learn-to-Swim’ tank. Perfect for little kids’ lessons, aqua bike, aqua-trekking and aqua-triathlon, the pool serves many uses.

The Aquamore Spinea also includes a physiotherapy pool dedicated for use in rehabilitation. The pool is equipped with the exclusive Myrtha SoftWalk bottom that cushions shocks and is the perfect choice for a rehab pool. The warmer water in this pool also makes it ideal for neonatal and pre-natal water classes. In addition to similar structural features and Myrtha technology found in the other two pools, the rehab pool is also outfitted with seats that facilitate entry into the water for people with mobility difficulties. The pool also offers hydromassage jets for the muscles of the lower limbs and has an anchor for surgical tubing that can be useful for various types of water exercises.

A further special feature of the project is the pool deck, which has been covered with Myrtha Pools’ Touch membrane. The exclusive surface is non-slip and comfortable to walk on, helping to ensure safety even after the exercise or rehabilitation program has ended.

The Aquamore Spinea – the perfect venue to swim, splash, play, or learn!
