Holmen Aquatics Center

Nesbru, Norway

Sustainability in the aquatic heart of Holmen, Norway

On the craggy shoreline of a Norwegian fjord sits the Holmen Aquatics Center, a modern and sustainable athletics complex. Impeccably integrated into the surrounding environment, the innovative facility sports a green roof with public access and 650m² of solar panels.

Located in the Nesbru resort, the Holmen Aquatics Center is one of the most energy-efficient sports facilities in Norway, due in no small part to the beautiful and efficient Myrtha pools that call it home. An 8-lane competition pool, equipped with Myrtha Track Start blocks, provides for high-performance training, while a Myrtha therapy pool – an accessible aquatics area with warmer water ideal for rehabilitation sessions and community classes- more than lives up to other community needs.

The facility is completed by a large, comfortable seating area from which to watch swimming competitions, a gym, two saunas, and a coffee bar. Built with care and thoughtfulness, the Holmen Aquatics Center is a shining example of sustainable design, with Myrtha pools providing something special for the whole community.
