Bocconi Sport Team & Myrtha Pools: United by Sport

Promoting and developing the Bocconi University of Milan sports community is the aim of the partnership between Myrtha Pools and the Bocconi Sport Team.
The overall intent is to bring out the values of sport, such as well-being, teamwork and fair-play. These are the same tenets enshrined in article 33 of the Italian Constitution, which recognises “the promotion of psychophysical well-being along with education and social value of sporting activity in all its forms“.

These same values are part of the academic setting at Bocconi, which has always been at the forefront in training new generations whether in the classroom, in the pool or on a playing field. With the new Bocconi Sport Center, opened in 2021, the university has made available to students a sports complex of excellence that includes indoor basketball courts, volleyball courts, five-on-five football pitches, an indoor athletics track, a fitness centre, and a swimming centre with two swimming pools, one of which is perfect for swimming and water polo competitions.

This diversity of athletic opportunity is part of the plan, according to Roberto Grassi, Director of Sport & Wellness and President of the Bocconi Sport Team. “We want our students to practice sport, and do so as much as possible in the facilities of our university, each according to his or her abilities and goals,” Grassi said. “The great experience and reliability of Myrtha Pools, which is used to managing Olympic construction sites with binding and stringent delivery deadlines, made it possible to manage the Bocconi project optimally“.

n addition to designing and supplying the swimming pools and wellness cabins of the Bocconi Sport Center, wanted to support the students by sponsoring the Bocconi Sport Team water polo team for the 2023-2024 season, engaged in the federal C series championship coached by Dario Improda and assisted by a top-level staff. Another key campus figure is aquatics manager Prof. Carlo Altomonte, who is also responsible for a research group on the impacts of apnea. The protocol created by Dr. Altomonte, called ‘Mind the Deep,’ is demonstrating benefits in stress management in recent studies carried out on a group of managers during six sessions of modulation of breathing underwater carried out precisely in the Aquamore Bocconi Sport Center pool.
